Yummy snacks and mild weather

A house guest who visited with us on Christmas evening, left with us a very yummy snack...chocolate covered pretzels with candy & sprinkles stuck to them. Big hit with the kids! Thanks Doug! Lauren was enjoying one while on her way outside to play with her dad and Evan.

Merry Christmas!

We had such a wonderful Christmas! It is so much fun to watch the kids anticipate it's arrival and then finally get the opportunity to open their gifts. We had two full days of visiting family, eating yummy food and watching the kids have a great time.

We started our holiday by going to Nana's house on the morning of Christmas Eve. While everyone was getting into the car, I was helping Lauren put on her coat. Then I had to take her picture.

After Nana's house, it was off to Mammaw's for more food, more gifts and more fun! On Christmas morning, we opened gifts at home and then went to grandma's house. Again, there was great food, more gifts and of course...more fun! The cousins from Texas are in town!

We topped Christmas day off with a visit from Aunt Erin and her friend Doug, granddad, Nana, Uncle Tim and Aunt Linda.

Another windy day

Yesterday was windy but beautiful, so I took Lauren for more pictures. This time I had to pay her.

With smarties and M&M's.

More photos coming as I get them processed. Keep checking!

She's eating her compensation...

And earlier that day at the skate park...

Oh...my...gosh...

Today was my lucky day...Evan went with me to take some pictures. The fall colors are just beautiful this weekend and I didn't want to miss the opportunity on this nice day to take some pictures! The shots of Evan with attitude on his face are very real, and in no way faked at all...you see, I said he went with me...I never said he was happy about it.

But that's okay, cause I'll take what I can get!

O-H-I-O!

This is just a quick post to put up some shots of Lauren in her Ohio State attire...she is such a girlie girl.

Today she and I were getting ready to leave for the store when she stopped me on our way out the door. She said,"Mommy, my purse!" In a hurry to leave I said, "Oh, did you forget your purse? Well hurry up and go get it." She ran to her room, and came back down the hall with her purse."It's empty!", she said. Realizing that she was not going to leave with me to go to the store until she had some stuff in her purse, I waited while she filled it with carefully chosen items from her bedroom. When she was finished, I looked inside to see what she could not do without while at the store. I found...a plastic french fry, a plastic potato chip, two hot wheels cars, two toy cell phones, a plastic slice of watermelon, a smurf, pink sunglasses, a baby bottle of fake orange juice, a plastic coin, one plastic cucumber, one plastic green pepper and Mr. Potato Head's nose. Finally, she was ready to leave for the store.

We had a fun trip together, and she never looked into her purse again after we left.

In the park with Lauren and...bunny

It was so beautiful today that I took Lauren out to the park while Evan was at school. We had a blast! I mean, you know, until I had to bribe her with a popsicle (that I didn't have with me) so she would sit still on a bench and let me take her picture (but she never did) - and then wanted her popsicle anyway. She did get on the bench and try to sit still, but I couldn't make her understand that sitting kind of still was not exactly the same thing at sitting very still!

Anyway...

We did bring a little white bunny with us who was more than happy to sit very still for me!

Back to Destin!

We recently returned from our summer vacation in Destin, and all I can say is oh my goodness it sure was beautiful! When we arrived, there was a lot of seaweed in the water and it was horrible. There was so much of it that you kinda didn't want to get into the water. But then, on our third day, the waves were huge which is definitely unusual. We had met a very nice couple, Phil and Judy from Arkansas, who were having so much fun out there in the waves, that we went out to join them. But after a few times of being dragged under water and having my face planted in the sand, I had to call it quits! The next morning, the waves were gone, and so was the seaweed! Yay!

Evan spent a lot of time in the ocean with his boogie board. He also likes to dive for diving sticks in the pool, so we spent a lot of time there too. Lauren was a pool girl at the beginning, and a beach girl toward the end of our stay. Both kids had a blast. Not many shells to find in Destin, as usual. Both kids got about five each, and they all look alike...white, and the size of a nickel.

After the seaweed...

Lauren at sunset...

One of the places we always make sure to visit for dinner is AJ's. This is Captain Jack, who made Evan a balloon sword.

I ordered a fruity drink and Lauren wanted to eat the whipped cream off the top. For obvious reasons, we had to get her a cup of whipped cream that was her very own.

Lauren wasn't sure if she liked Captain Jack, even after he made her a balloon butterfly.

This is what happens when a two year old gets into Nana's make up bag and tries to put mascara on like mommy does...

We had so much fun and can't wait to do it again!!
