Bye Bye, night-nights

Lauren finally let go of her pacifiers last Friday, January 13th. We talked to her all week about it, and told her Friday would be the day. So when Friday evening came, right before bedtime, she voluntarily put her night-nights in the trash. She said good-bye to them and waved as she closed the lid on the trash can. She never cried, though Brian and I both could tell she wanted to. She went to bed that night and never made a peep.

She still talks about them when she is going down for a nap or to bed for the night. She will ask, "I frow my night-nights in the trash?," as if she wants confirmation that they are really gone. So we just tell her that yes, she did throw them in the trash, and then we let her know what a big girl she is. She then will tell me that she loves her night-nights. She treated them like little people. Sometimes she pretended that the night-nights were talking to each other. I know it is hard for her not to have them, but she is truly being such a big girl about it.

Since Lauren was only allowed to have her night-nights when she went night-night, I had absolutely zero photos of her with them. Because time flies so quickly, I know that the night-nights will soon be forgotten by Lauren and the rest of us. So, on Friday afternoon I gave her her three favorite night-nights and let her play with them, outside of bed, for about an hour-and-a-half while I got some photos of her with them. She was so excited and had sooo much fun.
